Our roots

PUTAOYAO is rooted in the wild-grape-vine weaving tradition of Yongtai, Fujian. The vine is selected, prepared and woven by hand, connecting material knowledge with forms suited to contemporary life.

Zhang Qingming, whose work anchors PUTAOYAO, has long worked in craft transmission, artisan training, product development and cultural communication.

Fujian Zhifu Industrial Co., Ltd. traces its origins to a craft-products workshop founded in Yongtai in 2006, and the current company was established in 2015. Based in Yongtai, Fujian, the team develops, produces and markets household goods made from natural bamboo and vine as well as wild-grape-vine woven products. Company materials state that the team now has more than 100 employees.
